History
2008 - The start of the Eagle
Everything started in 2008, in which Gerrit Jan van Nifterik set up the tree nursery supplies trade at Huverba Nursery. Through his excellent service, great product knowledge, high motivation and perseverance, he was able to win the trust of customers and producers.
2012 - The establishment
Agro de Arend BV was founded in 2012, when Agro Buren BV (part of the nationwide Van Wesemael Group) and Gerrit Jan van Nifterik took over the operations of Arends ‘De Arend’ and all of Huverba's tree nursery products business.
2015 - New collaborations
To put Agro de Arend better on the map internationally as well, Habo Belgium became part of Agro de Arend in June 2015 and all tree nursery activities of Van Nifterik Holland were acquired in November 2015.
2018 - The building of our new company location
On 14 February 2018, we signed the agreement with the municipality of Neder-Betuwe. At the Tree Valley Business Centre in Opheusden, in the middle of Europe's largest avenue tree centre, an office building plus storage facilities will be developed for Agro de Arend on a business plot of 17,000 m2 surface area.
2020 - Moving to our new premises
With pain in our hearts, in August 2020 we will leave the old unique location on the Tielsestraat, which also has a rich history in avenue tree cultivation. We look forward to moving into our new premises, which will be fully equipped to supply materials within the greenery sector.
2021 - Acquisition Agroplast S.R.L.
Since 1984, Agroplast has been known for its green thinking. From Villafranca di Verona in Italy, the company manufactures innovative products, with its various types of binding tube as the frontrunner. In 2021, we as Agro de Arend took this company under our wing, this allows us to save costs and deliver 100% quality to our customers.
2024 - Thirty enthusiastic employees employed
The team now consists of more than 30 enthusiastic professionals.
Habo and Agroplast have become sister companies and, like Agro de Arend, 100% subsidiaries within the Wesemael group. This year also saw a change of management and Leendert de Jong was appointed General Director of Agro de Arend.
Besides being a supplier to the tree nursery sector, its activities have also broadened to include landscapers, public green spaces and garden and park. Thus, Agro de Arend can rightly call itself a supplier and knowledge partner for the green sector.
Where are we now?
A strong formula, bundled knowledge of earlier and newer generations and now one of the largest international suppliers in the sector. A fine example of how a young and modern company can have a great history.
